Ilvl 915 without either eko or the luffa or whatever. I have the crafted boots, the belt that helps the first 10% of the fight and the moonfire shoulders (+20% dmg and extra target hit). Trinkets are a 1 mil absorb trinket and versatility proc pvp trinket. Been trying this for 5 hours tonight and ran out of shards and went to bed steamed. Anybody who has done it what tips can you give me?
Anything special that helped you? I've watched a million and one YouTube videos but still having issues.
Nov 11, 2017 Heys guys, I just completed the tank challenge as a demon hunter. I totally facerolled it, since im overgeared (925) but I just thought even with that high gear it must have been a really hard challenge. However, now I wanted to do it on my druid alt, since he ist also totally overgeared (914 gearscore, one 940 legendary, ekowrath). So I watched a video just to get an idea how other druid. Focus on mechanics, the runes are the main issue. Save typhoon for when you are on one to buy you enough time. If it is inside a purple puddle, be prepared to displacer beast immediately.
I saw a guy who didn't even thrash the boss but when he interrupted LS and used his moonfire to dps to not have to stand in the crap. When do you pop your regen frenzy?
Anything helps. Idk man I'm super hyped for that artifact appearance, literally rerolled my spec for it and I am gonna be so bummed if I can't get it. Thanks in advance:). Did they ever patch the add glitch? As I recall they become invincible when you disorient them, in which case you can probably afford to grab an orb just to deal with that wave since the orbs despawn after a while anyways.
Also disorienting roar should be able to reach without guttural roars, and most guides actually suggest feral charge for the ability to get in or out of the puddle without taking more than a stack (i did it this way). Also, not that you should ever plan to fail, but it also serves as an extra life if you get hit by a knockback (face it, it's gonna happen) since you can charge back onto the platform if you're quick enough. Focus more on your movement and grouping of the adds. Make a macro to /target eyes and moonfire them if you haven't already. Make a macro to /target inquisitor and skull bash him in one key if you havent yet.I took 128 attempts at 910 ilvl with luffa and heal boots on my bear alt. It's a massive RNG fight even with the 'correct' legendaries.
You'll spend a lot of nethershards and bear tartare just figuring out how to get into phase 2 correctly. Then you'll do phase 2 about a dozen times over the next 70 pulls until you somehow just win. There are a few legendary combo that makes the fight really easy:.Lady and the Child + Fury of Nature: +20% Moonfire damage, +30% Arcane/Nature damage, +30% leech on Arcane/Nature damage. Spam Moonfire for the win! It's by far the easiest setup but it requires 2 legendaries from 2 different specs.Elize + Luffa: Trash stacks 2 more times, and Trash has 25% increased radius/damage. It allows you to Trash the Inquisitor from outside his purple poop zone with ease and deals mad damage.Ekowraith (Balance) + Prydaz (if DPS isn't an issue): +75% on your Guardian and Balance passives, which allows you to Trash the Inquisitor from outside his purple poop zone too. You need to be a bit closer than with Luffa but you won't have to step into the poop zone.
That's the combo I used since I didn't have Fury of Nature yet (I do now, it's stupid fun for AoE fights in ToS).Ekowraith (Balance) + Elize: A combination of the two setups above.Once that's out of the way, the key of the fight is Velen's orbs. Save them for how long as you can, then blow them up one by one when Kruul gains the power to one-shot you.Interrupt what needs to be (drain on Inquisitor, and the leech debuff on Kruul), don't get blown off the platform, don't let adds kill Velen. First, get some stat stick trinkets that work. I would use Cinidaria and Lady and the child for legos. Get agility flasks, bear tartare and drums. On pulling Variss, moonfire from max range and run back to the edge of the platform on the side you spawned in on. This will drag him on top of Velen and cause him to autoattack. Kite the infernals around the circle while thrashing/swiping varris.
Moonfire the eyes once and face them.Combine this with the other comments and adjust to what works for you. Pop frenzied in two situations: You're one cast away from death or you need the adds off velen when they first spawn.Get good at toeing the line of the circle with Balance Affinity. There's a pixel perfect spot around the circle that you can redot the boss without refreshing your stacks, but its unreliable without luffas.Gutteral roars for a better talent choice so you can hit the boss with your aoe stun without refreshing stacks. You should be getting to a point where you never get knocked back anyway. Always be moving.First set of adds, pop orb.
Second set of adds, pop rage of the sleeper second (Right as you're charging in to interrupt the boss' heal, you'll be at like 20% hp but rage will bring you back to full as you're attacked). Pop orb on third. Boss should be dead by the fourth, especially with your shoulders.
Spam moonfire either on the boss or on eyes when you'e not refreshing Thrash stacks. For the second phase, manage your stuns (orb, bash, roar) perfectly and your Cooldowns perfectly as well, and ride the lightning to prevent deaths from the stomp. Dont ignore adds with Velen.Second phase is even harder than the first, so good luck. It took me over 300 tries without Luffa/Ekowraith. Every guide I saw said dont bother without these legendaries, and I can tell why. If you dont have solid DPS trinkets (glaives from sisters is amazing), you're up shit creek. You're probably best just waiting for some more gear. There's a lot of time left in the expansion.
While it's possible you could do it at 915 without the ideal legendaries, every small mistake is going to be even more punishing. As a Resto Druid main, I've been working on the other specs lately. Guardian was the hardest by far. I don't have any Guardian-specific legendaries and my gear isn't optimized for it. It took about 40 tries around 927 to get. For comparison, Resto was 8 tries at 902 and Balance was 1 try at about 920.
